El Gusano Rojo

This downtown Portland cocktail lounge, which is popular with students from the nearby Main College of Art, features local art, DJs and live bands comes from The White Heart in Portland, ME.

Ingredients:

  • Ice

  • 1 1/2 ounces mezcal

  • 1/2 ounce passion fruit nectar

  • 2 ounces chilled ginger beer

  • 1/2 ounce grenadine, preferably homemade

Instructions:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the mezcal and passion fruit nectar and shake well. Strain the drink into an ice-filled highball glass, stir in the chilled ginger beer and drizzle the grenadine on top; it will sink to the bottom.
